Four-year-old pediatric oncology patient to be surprised in style with backyard playset built by Shady Rays
In partnership with the Roc Solid Foundation, Shady Rays’ team of volunteers will construct a backyard playset for a Louisville child undergoing cancer treatment
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (September 14, 2023) – Shady Rays will construct a custom backyard playset this Friday for four-year-old Jaxson, a pediatric oncology patient who is currently undergoing treatment at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville for Neuroblastoma. Jaxson was first diagnosed with Neuroblastoma in June and has started chemotherapy treatments.
The playset build is part of Shady Rays’ ongoing commitment to the Roc Solid Foundation, and its Play Defeats Cancer Tour. During the Play Defeats Cancer Tour, Roc Solid and its partners like Shady Rays will build 30 playsets in 30 days for kids fighting cancer during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
A team of Shady Rays leadership, Roc Solid Foundation CEO & Chief Play Officer Eric Newman, and hard-working volunteers will be on-site in front of Shady Rays’ Louisville retail location from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Shady Rays is located at 7900 Shelbyville Road in Oxmoor Center adjacent to Anthropologie in the Von Maur wing.
Jaxson and his family will arrive via limousine around Noon and be totally surprised with the fully-constructed playset. (think, Extreme Makeover “big reveal” style!)

The playset will be constructed from the ground up outside of the Shady Rays retail store in the front of Oxmoor Center. The volunteer activation is part of Shady Rays Impact - the company’s philanthropic giving initiative aimed at supporting the communities in which their employees work and live.
