ABOUT THE ROLE
Day to day accounting has previously been outsourced to an accounting firm. To support the growing business, an in-house accounting team is being developed, currently including a senior and staff accountant (this role). Initial responsibilities will be focused heavily on the accounts payable (‘AP’) area,but will be expanded as we increase efficiency in AP, creating additional available capacity. The role is local only, requiring at least one trip per week to the corporate headquarters/ warehouse facility to collect and go through mail. Space is available to work at the office if desired, but there is not a requirement of an 8-hour day in the office. This individual should have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn and adapt. Communication skills are critical for this role, as they will be the primary accounts payable team member and will need to communicate appropriately with internal and external parties on a regular basis. The role is well suited for an individual with desire for professional growth and advancement, while operating in a supportive, well-balanced environment. The most important characteristics of the right candidate will be organization, attention to detail, and a demonstrated pride in their work.
Role and Responsibilities
· Manage all incoming invoices, ensuring proper approval and loading into the accounting tools.
· Produce weekly payment schedules, ensuring timely payment of all vendors.
· Communicate with and ensure alignment with accounts receivable members of key vendors.
· Organize and maintain recurring payment schedules.
· Maintain vendor and government portal login details.
· Collect and ensure appropriate action is taken on finance related physical mail received.
· Perform month-end close entries and based on a closing schedule.
· Adherence to month-end close calendar with various journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of financial statement preparation.
· Ensures proper record retention is upheld for all financial records.
· Assist with audits as requested.
Skills, Qualifications and Education Requirements
· **Local to Simpsonville, KY**. Ability to go into the office at least once per week to check mail. (Driver’s license)
· 1-3 years accounting or accounts payable experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (preferred)
· Demonstrated high software acuity (preferably experience with accounting or AP software)
· Excellent attention to detail
· Strong work ethic and willingness to learn and improve, coachable.
· Demonstrated accountability and ownership of their work product.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
